The Sony DCR-HC1000 is a 3-CCD mini digital
video camcorder. What is 3-CCD? This is a technology that
uses a 3 chip Advanced system that separates color information
in red, green and blue. The benefit is that colors are extremely
accurate, resulting in more vivid colors and sharper image
quality. Not only can you capture amazing digital video, you
can also snap high resolution 1152 x 864 digital
still images as well.
The dcr-hc1000 digital
camcorder from
Sony uses the MiniDV format
which films in 530 lines of horizontal resolution, meaning
you get crystal clear picture quality.
- 16:9 mode - this is the same aspect ratio as used on
hdtv home theater systems and at movie theaters
- if you like editing your home videos, then the IEEE1394
feature will come in handy. Transfer digital footage to
your computer
- 12X Optical & 150X digital zoom - zoom in on subjects
and shoot detail shots from a distance
- to transfer still images and mpeg clips to your computer,
the usb interface will come in handy. Plug the USB cable
from your video camera to your PC's USB port and you're
ready!
- watch everything on the 2.5" Hybrid LCD viewfinder
- image stabililization system - this feature is designed
to control camera shake and vibration frequencies, to
achieve an even higher level of smoothness without degradation
of video like some other image stabilization systems
I was comparing prices between Amazon and Epinions and
Amazon won at $900.00.
Robin Liss from camcorderinfo.com did a review
of dcr-hc1000 the and he writes "In a way, the
DCR-HC1000 deserves two reviews: one for the consumer market
that it’s obviously
aimed at, and one for the market it actually suits – the
ease of use crowd with a big budget. The problem with this
Sony Handycam is that it’s clearly priced and targeted
toward the prosumer user group, but it lacks the features
necessary to fulfill the needs of prosumer users. Prosumers
aren't touchy-feely people, and we don't like having to touch
a bunch of menu buttons to operate our camcorders. Nevertheless,
Sony's forced all the manual control on the DCR-HC1000 into
the touch screen. Sony has taken the highly popular DCR-TRV950
and performed a lobotomy on it, dumbing it down for the ease
of use crowd. The result is an overpriced ease of use camcorder
that leaves a very big void in Sony’s prosumer line."
Cnet
reviews the Handycam dcr-hc1000 and this is what they
had to say - "Sony replaces its popular DCR-TRV950 with the
DCR-HC1000. The most affordable of Sony's three-chip MiniDV
cameras, it's made to appeal to video enthusiasts who want
high-quality images and a degree of manual control but don't
need a lot of pro-oriented features."
