The Sony DCR-DVD105 takes over for the Sony
DCR-DVD92, which was the top selling DVD
camcorder of 2005. The DCR-DVD105
Handycam camcorder is a DVD model meaning all the video
you capture is stored on a digital video disc. These are
the type of discs that you can use with this video camera,
DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW.
There are a number of features on the Handycam to help you
get the most out of your video filming. For instance
the 2.5” touch panel SwivelScreen™ LCD screen,
will keep in control of exactly how you want your video to
turn out. There is a 3d menu that you can control via the touch
screen system.
Need to zoom in on subjects in the distance, then the 25
mm award winning Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens will do the
job (25 mm). You can use two types of zooms, digital and optical.
I suggest using the optical zoom over the digital one because
the digital zoom enlarges the pixels resulting in a distorted
image. You can use 20x optical and an amazing 800x digital
zoom, when the need arises.
Like to shoot video at night, then the NightShot Plus
Infrared System will come in handy. No grainy video here,
the DCR-DVD105 gives you pretty decent night video.
A problem that used to be normal is older analog camcorders
is the dreaded camera shakiness, Sony solved this problem
a few years ago. The Super SteadyShot picture
stabilization system stops this problem in it's tracks.
This Sony
dvd Handycam is pretty cheap, at only $500, not
bad considering all the features you get. It comes out
in February 2006, so start saving so you can get the latest DVD
camcorder from Sony.
Other new models from Sony that were unveiled for 2006 include,
Sony
DCR-SR100, , DCR-DVD205, HAD CCD, DCR-DVD305,
DCR-DVD405, DCR-DVD505 and the Sony DCR-HC96.
