So you want to learn how to capture good video? I have done the research and have listed the best tips to help you become a better videographer. I am no expert but I have read what the experts have said and this is a compilation of tips that I have collected from them.
1. If you want to film little Bobby scoring a goal at his soccer game you should begin your filming a little before the event happens. You should start filming 1 - 2 seconds before the actual event happens so you can capture the full moment, remember you can always edit video later and cut out excess video footage.
2. Don't be in a rush, we have all seen home video that was shot very fast. It is important to move the camcorder slowly so you capture everything and also give the viewer a chance to see what you are viewing.
3. Parents are guilty of this - Ttalking while they are filming their kids. People want to see and hear what you are filming, not dad in the background, telling the kids what to do.
4. I hate when video footage is shaky, an easy way to stop this common problem is to purchase a cheap tripod. No more camera shakiness.
5. Don't go zoom happy! This is a mistake beginners make, zooming in and out for no reason at all. Use the zoom feature minimally.
6. Lighting is important - Make sure you have adequate lighting, always try to shoot in the best possible lighting conditions. Always shoot with your back to the sun that way you get optimum lighting conditions.
