Helping to discover and promote some of today’s most
cutting-edge filmmakers, Panasonic is providing equipment
and funding to Jonnie Ross, one of three featured filmmakers
in the RESFEST 2005 Triple Threat program. Ross will
create several short films using the Panasonic
SDR-S100, the world’s first 3CCD
camcorder that records
video to an SD Memory Card.
Kicking off its North American tour in New York City’s
Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and traveling to over 35
cities on six continents, RESFEST showcases the convergence
of innovative film, music, art, design, fashion and technology. Festival
activities include screenings, live music performances,
filmmaker meet-and-greet sessions, workshops, parties and
interactive entertainment. RESFEST runs from September
15 -18 in New York City. Ross’ first film shot
on the SDR-S100 is scheduled to debut at RESFEST in Chicago
from October 6 - 9.
“Exemplifying the spirit of innovation and creativity,
the SDR-S100 camcorder is a perfect fit for the artistic,
tech-savvy, aspiring filmmakers celebrated by RESFEST,” said
Rudy Vitti, national marketing manager for Panasonic. “Panasonic
is delighted to provide some of the most talented filmmakers
of tomorrow with the technology they need to realize their
visions.”
The lightweight, super-portable SDR-S100 records high-quality
MPEG2 digital video onto an SD Memory Card, the number one
flash memory card format in the world today. The SDR-S100
features a high-performance Leica Dicomar lens, 10X optical
zoom and Optical Image Stabilization. Its fast response
time and rugged, shock-resistant design also make it the
perfect “take-anywhere” camcorder for spontaneous
shooting.
“It's the smallest 3CCD camera I've ever used,” commented
Jonnie Ross. “That, combined with the fact that it's
so light and that it's tape-less is awesome. It's surprising
how much fun it is to compose with the letterbox ratio viewfinder.
When you can just walk around shooting video like you're
shooting for the big screen, suddenly you're thinking about
shots in whole new ways.”
The Panasonic SDR-S100 records in the 16:9 widescreen aspect
ratio as well as the conventional 4:3 TV format and features
a wide, 2.8” LCD, making it easy to frame shots in
the 16:9 format. The camcorder can also capture a 3.1-megapixel
(2048 x 1512) still image. The SDR-S100 includes a
rechargeable battery pack and a 2GB1 SD Memory Card.
The Panasonic SDR-S100 SD camcorder is slated for introduction
in October, with a targeted suggested retail price of $1199.95. For
