Sony Electronics has updated the look and improved the
user-friendliness of its Hi8 and Digital8 Sony
Handycams to reflect the dynamic lifestyle of today's consumers.
"These
new digital camcorders focus on the pure enjoyment of
taking video," said Linda Vuolo director of Sony
camcorder products and digital imaging accessories. "By
adding features and software that take the guess work
out of shooting and editing home videos, Sony dv camcorder
owners can concentrate on what's important - having fun."
Sony Handycam camcorders have rounded
edges, streamlined buttons and slimmed down
chassisis on its 2004 Digital8 and Hi8 digital video
camcorders. Although more compact, the new designs accommodate
a 2.5-inch SwivelScreen LCD display and an enlarged
20X optical/990X digital zoom on all four models.
So consumers can concentrate on the pleasure
of taking hgh definition video and not be concerned whether
their Handycam camcorder is in the correct setting, all
of Sony's new models have added an Easy Handycam operation
button to the outside of the camcorder. When pressed,
the button resets the camcorder's settings to automatic
mode and adjusts the LCD display to show only the essential
icons like power and tape length and enlarges the icons
for better viewing.
- CCD-TRV128 has all
the above mentioned features and adds a built-in light
and the new NightShot® Plus system that allows for recording
in darkness while delivering more natural color to the
video. The CCD-TRV128 model will be available in February
for about $270.
- CCD-TRV328 has all the above mentioned
features and adds SteadyShot® picture stabilization
to minimize camera shake. The CCD-TRV328 model will be
available in February for about $300.
Moving on
to Sony's new Digital8 camcorders, they come supplied
with an easy-to-use video editing package that makes
creating personalized home movies a breeze. In three
steps, the new PicturePackage™ software allows
Handycam camcorder owners to fashion their own music
videos or attractive slideshow movies from still images.
For example, one effect such as "Over the Top" adds
colorful overlays and quick transitions while "Old
Movie" slows down the pace and fades out the color.
The software also automatically synchronizes home movies
to the tempo of either prepackaged or personal music
selections.
Sony's Digital8 Handycam camcorders, the
DCR-TRV260 and the DCR-TRV460, record digital video and
audio onto inexpensive, easy-to-find 8mm and Hi8 tapes.
The DCR-TRV460 camcorder also provides convenient playback
of a user's existing 8mm and Hi8 videotapes.
- DCR-TRV260 has all the above
mentioned features and adds USB Streaming that turns
the camcorder into a web cam. The DCR-TRV260 model will

operation through the LCD display and digital still image

Stick® slot. The DCR-TRV460 model will be available
in February for about $400.
